For those who don’t get enough challenge from Killer Samurai Sudoku nor from Harakiri nor from Twin Killer nor from any other overlapping, odd/even, consecutive or greater/less than sudoku – here is the ultimate challenge – my second ever Clueless Killer Sudoku.
If your friends or family call you names when they see you solving this puzzle – please do not complain to me. In fact, I suggest that you just download this puzzle, have a look, but don’t attempt to solve it.
Again, thanks to Ruud from www.sudocue.net for inventing the “clueless” concept.
In this puzzle, there are 9 Sudoku puzzles with no overlapping regions! If you attempt to solve them individually – you won’t get far.
Here is where the “clueless” part comes in: in all of those 9 puzzles, the center nonet is just one cage. As you plug in your numbers, center nonets (shaded in grey) start filling up. The trick is that those 9 center nonets, put together, also constitute a valid Sudoku puzzle. So, when you run out of ideas, start working on the 10th puzzle and it will give you enough information to solve the whole lot. Those 10 puzzles together have, of course, a single solution.

I tried to print off the clueless killer puzzle, but all I get is the layout with a bunch of dotted line shapes and numbers like 11 45 and others all over the board. What am I doing wrong?
Nathan, that’s what the Clueless Killer should look like. It’s a killer sudoku puzzle in Clueless format – so you do expect lots of dotted lines and cage sums.
I appologize for my question. I was un aware of this format. I have now got it!
I had a great time with this one! I had to enlarge it though! The few people who saw it did look at me strangely though.
When you go back to doing single ones – they seem easier somehow.
Thanks for my daily fix.

This got one of my favorite sudoku variations. I found it to be somewhat easier than the first one or maybe I`m just getting more skilled. Nevertheless hope to see more clueless killer sudokus in the future.
Holy Moley!
I can’t print this properly… 🙁 the numbers are too blurry, thus unreadable on paper :((
